Rick’s Picks: Rick Nielsen’s Lifelong Affair with Guitars and Music.
A new multimedia exhibit dedicated to Cheap Trick guitarist/songwriter Rick Nielsen will open Saturday (08/11/12) at the Burpee Museum of Natural History in the band’s hometown of Rockford, Illinois.
The display, titled Rick’s Picks: A Lifelong Affair with Guitars and Music, will feature selections from the power-pop legend’s expansive guitar collection, performance videos, a variety of photos, Cheap Trick tour memorabilia and some of the stage outfits Nielsen has worn over the years.
The exhibition also will include a wall featuring lyrics penned by Nielsen, examples of the many guitar picks he’s designed, a room of guitars belonging to other rock stars and a stage set up for acoustic performances by Rick and other guest artists.
Nielsen will be on hand for a special VIP preview event on Friday that will kick off with a Q&A with press members at 1 p.m. CT.
The exhibit is scheduled to run through April 10, 2013. Money raised by the attraction will benefit the Burpee Museum. Log on to RicksPicksLive.com for more info.
